Interests:
As part of an undergraduate thesis, I will be researching the relative importance of the three fundamental psychological needs proposed in Self Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan, 200); relatedness, competence and autonomy. More specifically, I will be working with a grad student to expand upon previous research which posits that these three needs, despite having been conceptualized on an equal plane, exist in a hierarchical Maslovian pyramid. Through this research, we will explore how individuals satisfy these needs and the corresponding effects on subjective well being.
