There are three ways for you to become involved with our research:

Apply to do your Undergraduate Thesis in the Lydon Lab

Thank you for your interest in completing an undergraduate thesis in the Lydon Lab. Every year the Lydon Lab invites students enrolled in an undergraduate thesis course at McGill to apply to the lab. Usually, applications are collected in late summer and interviews conducted just as the Fall semester is beginning. If a candidate is selected, he or she will likely work directly with a graduate student under Dr. John Lydon's supervision. Students who are interested in doing an undergraduate thesis in the Lydon Lab should read and fill out the document below. Please e-mail the completed form, along with your CV and unofficial transcripts to Sandra Olarte-Hayes at solartehayes.mcgill@gmail.com.

Apply to be a Research Assistant in the Lydon Lab

Thank you for your interest in the position of research assistant in the Lydon Lab. More often than not, the Lydon Lab hires RAs from the Work Study program on campus in early Fall every school year. We need RAs to help to make research run smoothly in the lab. Tasks include recruiting and scheduling participants, data entry and data proofing, keeping the lab organized and in tip top shape (ie. filing, labeling, moving boxes and computer maintenance), and helping the grad students and lab coordinator as needed (ie. lit searches or running errands). Sometimes RAs will run studies, but often undergraduate thesis students run their own studies. A background in psychology and some research experience is preferred. We also prefer candidates who are bilingual. If you would like to apply to work as a research assistant in our lab, e-mail a cover letter, CV and unofficial transcipts to Gaëlle Hortop at e.gaelle.hortop.mcgill@gmail.com and indicate whether or not you have been accepted into the Work Study program at McGill. Include your student ID number for the purpose of verification.

Apply to be a Volunteer in the Lydon Lab

Thank you for your interest in helping out in the Lydon lab. Volunteering is a great way to get research experience. To volunteer in the Lab, you must read the text below and fill out the interest form as soon as possible. E-mail your completed interest form to e.gaelle.hortop.mcgill@gmail.com. Once I’ve receive your application I will put your name on our list of volunteers and you will be contacted, usually by e-mail, whenever we need help with something. When you receive an e-mail from the lab, if you are able and interested in helping with the specific task that is outlined, you simply respond directly to the e-mail. We look forward to meeting you.
